Vault Career Intelligence is a publicly available website at Vault.com, but SMC subscribes to additional "Gold" content that you'll have to pay for--unless you go to Vault through the library's special link and create a personal login. Here are the instructions:

If you are a current student, faculty, or staff:

  1. Search for Vault in the Library's A-Z list of databases (or look it up in the catalog or see the link on the Subject Guide for Careers).
  2. Click on the link to Vault. If you are off campus, you will be prompted to log in with your SMC username and password (the same one for your email and all the other library databases).
  3. When prompted, click Create My Vault Profile. (You can opt out of creating a profile by clicking Continue to Vault.com without creating a profile, but if you don't create your own profile/login, you'll have to go through the Library's link every time you want to use Vault.)
  4. Fill out any required fields, decide whether you want to opt out of newsletters from Vault and their partners, and click Create Account.
  5. From now on, you can just go straight to Vault.com and log in with the username and password you just created, and Vault will recognize you as a Saint Mary's user.

If you are an alum:

  1. First, read about alumni access to SMC databases.
  2. Once you have been given a username and password for alumni database access, click on the link to Vault from the page above.
  3. You will be prompted to log in with your alumni username and password (at the bottom of the page).
  4. Now you will be taken to the
  5. When prompted, click Create My Vault Profile. (You can opt out of creating a profile by clicking Continue to Vault.com without creating a profile, but if you don't create your own profile/login, you'll have to go through the Library's link every time you want to use Vault, instead of just going to Vault.com and logging in with the Vault profile you created.)
  6. Fill out any required fields, decide whether you want to opt out of newsletters from Vault and their partners, and click Create Account.
  7. From now on, you can just go straight to Vault.com and log in with the username and password you just created, and Vault will recognize you as a Saint Mary's user.

The SMC Library also has hundreds of career-related books and e-books! Check out our Subject Guide for Careers, browse through the shelves right next to the library entrance, search the catalog, or Ask a Librarian for help finding the career information you're looking for.
